“And now these three remain: faith, hope, & love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
My Story
Rewinding to nine years ago—
Out of all the classes in high school, I was always passionate about English, Family Consumer Sciences, & Art, but there was never something that I felt the Holy Spirit say this— this is what you’re going to do for the rest of your life. I don’t think it works like that, at least not for me anyway. I believe “what do you want to be when you grow up for the rest of your life?” should be replaced with “where is the Holy Spirit leading you right now, and how can I support you in being obedient in your faith walk?” My parents didn’t see things this way at the time and to be honest neither did I, as I was new in my faith journey. Not going to college was never an option offered by my parents, so I had to choose & I had to choose quickly even though I had absolutely no idea.
Uncertain of which of 4 colleges to attend, I prayed. As I embarked on my senior trip to the Bahamas, I knew I had to make a decision the day after returning from my trip on decision day. I was scared and confused. I kept praying. In a transfer airplane from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Nassau, Bahamas with only 7 passengers, a gentlemen wearing a “Shippensburg University” sweatshirt walked in. Out of every person, every place, every sweatshirt— I knew in my heart what the Lord was saying. I accepted college enrollment to Shippensburg University.
Although the Lord revealed where to go through the Holy Spirit, I didn’t feel He revealed clearly what exactly to study.
After graduating with my degree, I still had didn’t know what to do, but I knew one thing for sure—- seek Jesus. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33) I felt the Holy Spirit telling me to go far, far away & reconnect with the Lord deeper than ever & reconnect with my gifts & passions. So, I bought a one-way ticket to Hawaii with little to no plan & I obeyed the Lord. The night before leaving, I was terrified, but the Lord gave me comfort as the twinkle lights I had in my small apartment room that didn’t work for all four years of college, lit up after closing my eyes in prayer, telling the Lord how scared I was. “God is light.” (1 John 1:5) I opened my eyes from pray to His light and I knew I would be okay & I this was His will.
After arriving & upon living in Hawaii, my connection grew closer to the Lord than ever, as I sought comfort and friendship in an unknown place while “stuck” in the middle of the ocean. I got baptized in the ocean— fully surrendering my life to the Lord. While there, I also paid close attention to my passions & the activities that the Lord brought me joy in. The most prominent activity that the Lord reconnected me to was photography.
Eventually, after becoming very homesick, I returned home to be with loved ones. I learned that no matter how beautiful the destination, what is most important is being connected in love. Firstly, to the Lord, and secondly, to humans that I love. “And now these three remain: faith, hope, & love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13) Love brought me home.
Fast forward five years later—Today, I still truly & always will believe, “The greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13) Love is the greatest! I love using the gifts and talents that the Lord has blessed me with to capture your sweet love. The Lord has written your own beautiful, masterpiece story & I believe He calls me to capture it and to tell it. “For we are God’s masterpieces. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Do you know you are God’s masterpiece?! Do you know He created you on purpose for a purpose? Wherever you are in your journey with the Lord, I would love to pray for you and capture your beautiful, masterpiece story. A digital gallery & a story book to have and to hold for this chapter, forever.
With Love,
